Iceland in winter is a land of fire and ice, and I set out to capture its most ethereal spectacle: the northern lights. I traveled across the dramatic landscapes where glaciers meet volcanic shores, hoping to photograph the aurora borealis dancing above this otherworldly terrain. As the green lights erupted across the sky, I set up my tripod beside a glacial lagoon, the ice reflecting the aurora’s glow. The silence of the Icelandic wilderness was profound, broken only by the distant crack of shifting ice. I captured the lights reflecting on frozen rivers, the aurora crowning snow-capped mountains, and a solitary cabin glowing warmly against the vast, cold darkness. The challenge of photographing the northern lights pushed my skills to the limit.
